Mega died Friday. Although I had him cremated, I still gave him a beautiful memorial to provide the girls with closure. I, on the other hand, was a happy fucking camper. His lawyer called me this morning asking me if the girls and I could come in for the reading of the will. I went through a lot of shit being married to Mega, and I stayed for this very moment. I knew I would reap the benefits in the end. The only fucked up thing about this situation is the fact that I may have lost my daughter too. Neenah looked at me with pure disgust. Though she is my daughter, that was Mega’s child, and she has his fucked-up ways.

“Y’all ready?” I asked, tossing my Louie bag over my right shoulder.

I was ready to get in and get my money. I was smiling like a muthafucka on the inside. I could finally do things my way, and first thing first, I’m selling the Monroe estate. I know Neenah is going to throw a fit, but she could do nothing about it. She can either move in with me or get her own place. She’s eighteen.

“I bet if we’re not, you sure are! You’re something else,” Neenah replied, walking into the building.

I swear this girl is seconds away from catching these hands for real. It’s like we’re clashing for no reason, Lord I knew raising a teenager was going to be a challenge, but damn! I made a mental note to check her ass as soon as we get away from these professional people. We walked in and took the elevator up to the seventh floor. Mega’s lawyer greeted us as soon as we made it to his floor. In my head, I pictured an old ass suit-wearing white man, but this was a tall, bald, nice looking black man. There was nothing like an educated, successful man.

“Ladies, I’m Lance Jacobs. I’m sorry for the loss of Mega. He was an amazing man.” Mr. Jacobs walked and talked at the same time as we followed behind.

“Yes, he was, I appreciate your kind words,” I replied checking him out.

We walked inside of his office, and the all-white décor was so beautiful that I wanted to remove my shoes before stepping inside. Everything down to the desk was white, I know for a fact this was the work of a woman. I looked at the family picture of him hugging his wife while two girls stood in front of them. Sadness filled my body as I thought about Mega and our girls. It’s crazy how our lives just changed forever.

“Ok, this won’t take long at all. Neenah Monroe?” He looked at the three of us.

I gave him a stale face because I’m his wife, so my name should’ve been the first name said. Neenah looked at him and raised her hand. I looked at her then back at him before shifting in my seat.

“Alright, your father's last will and testament states that you are now the sole owner of all funds, properties, and businesses.
